IMAGES AND DETAILS
I always choose 6 colors for my abstract canvases. From left to right they are: purple or violet, magenta, orange, yellow, green and blue.
The title of the artwork suggests the constant conflict between the sense of chaos and order. I wanted the viewer to discover repeating patterns and to suddenly lose them.
This approach helps the mind to be involved in the painting constantly and to never look at it the same way twice.
To accelerate the battle of disorder and repetition I combined hard edge brush strokes and soft gradient transitions between colors.
Some patterns are very well defined and others blend with the surrounding environment in a subtle way.
It took me years to master the ability to make the acrylics behave like oils without adding water. It could create inconsistency in the polymer molecules and this can reduce the lifetime of the artwork.
To prevent the tendency of the paint to develop mold I finish my canvases with high quality polyurethane varnish.
Human vision is wider than taller and we find 3 x 2 aspect ratio as appealing. This is the reason why I choose to create paintings with similar properties. My art is abstract but nevertheless I always include some of the qualities of real life in my canvases.
(A CLOSE UP VIEW OF DIFFERENT PORTIONS OF THE CANVAS)
The fragment displays a combination between soft transition of colors and very clear hard edge brush stroke.
The region where the yellow and the green colors meet on the canvas is a place where I chose to put brush strokes which imitate dripping marks.
These places where different patterns meet create the illusion of chaos. They are my most important approach which shifts the mind between the perception of repetition and randomness.
The portion displays layers of green nuances which exist between warmer yellow and colder blue tints.
I wanted to accelerate the conflict between something that appears easy to understand but meanwhile requires more efforts for the mind of the viewer.
The fragment demonstrates a portion of the painting where the viewer can see the highest difference between values. Here I used the darkest and the lightest colors in the artwork.
